VICTOiR is a Charity with a humanitarian purpose, dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer in Togo. The Charity has enabled the creation of the only Paediatric Oncology Unit in Togo, at the Sylvanius Olympio University Hospital in Lomé.

Its goal is to ensure, and continuously improve, the management and treatment of childhood cancers.

Since the start of VICTOiR, more than 250 children have been treated in the Unit, which has become a beacon for children with cancer both in the country and also the whole sub-region. Today, cure rates are increasing, thanks to the continuous training of medical personnel, the acquisition of high-performance equipment and the constant improvement of the material and human environment.

Our ambition is to achieve the cure rates obtained in Europe.

All of our actions and projects have been carried out from the outset in close collaboration with the various partners of the Paediatric Service, and more particularly with the Oncology Consultant responsible for the unit, and the director of the Lomé University Hospital.

The Togolese Administration has granted the Charity official authorization to operate in its territory, and a chart and agreed schedule is underway. The Government of Togo supports our action and has decided to finance 50% of the cost of the new Walk-in Centre of the Hospital in 2019.

The French Embassy fully supports our action and facilitates our efforts wherever possible.

VICTOiR currently treats around 100 children annually and sees around 30 children daily. The charity employs four nurses, a psychologist and an oncologist. The construction of the hospital Walk-in Centre is underway and progress should allow the doubling of the number of beds currently available.
